Position: Reporter
Hometown: B-More
College: Syracuse via Loyola Blakefield (roll Dons roll)
First job in journalism: Intern at the Syracuse Post-Standard and Baltimore Sun in 1995/96
At Washington Post since: August 1999
Favorite Sport: Soccer
Favorite Athlete: Ever? Of all time? At various points in my life: Pele, Maradona, Ted Williams, Kellen Winslow (the Charger, not the Brown) Dale Hunter/Dino Ciccarelli ... Right now I wouldn't mind spending a week in Christiano Ronaldo's boots.
Favorite Team: Leeds United (relegation stinks)
Favorite Writer (Other than Tom Boswell): David Halberstam
Favorite Moment at Post: Covering the 2006 World Cup. Best assignment of my life. Being there for the Zidane head butt at Olympic Stadium in Berlin is tough to top.
Favorite Moment on WPL: Doing the monkey dance with Richard Simmons is without a doubt the highlight of my journalism career ... Shooting the bull with Bruce Arena in the plush Comcast green room is a great way for any soccerhead to spend an afternoon ... Just being close enough to Mike Wise to catch the glare of the TV lights off his dome is always a thrill.
