Skins game with the Caps and the Bachelor

October 24, 2008, 10:22 am

Last Sunday I was fortunate to venture out to the Skins game with a few Capitals players (Alexander Ovechkin, Nicholas Backstrom, and Mike Green) who wore there Sammy Baugh old school helmets.  I also went with my brand new fitness advisor “The Bachelor” Lieutenant Andy Baldwin, who starred in the ABC hit series “The Bachelor”. Andy has committed to train me, but him being in the Navy scares me. The game was quite boring but the players were anything but that.  Ovechkin was more excited about stadium nachos then the game in the first half.  Granted the first half was a boring 0-0 tie.  The first thing he said to me was “Where are the nachos.  I run to the club level, grabbed him nachos and he says “awesome, how do get 4 more.” At this point I call a co-worker on the club level who agrees to get me 4 more. Some Forty minutes later, my co-worker isn’t there, and the NHL MVP is still craving nachos, I pay an usher to get me 4 more nachos.  The usher get’s there the same exact time as my co-worker which meant Alex was in seventh heaven with 8 nachos.  He ate about 6 or 7 of them.

As the second half got underway, the Caps players got excited.  Ovechkin joined the crowd in stadium cheers as the other two players laughed at there teammate.  However, when you're Alexander Ovechkin, you can sort of do just about anything you want in DC.  After the game I arranged for the players to meet the Skins.  It was the first time I had seen Skins players asked to take pictures with another athlete.  Shawn Springs, Jason Campbell, and Mike Sellers all asked for pictures with the Caps stars.  Mike Sellers informed Green that he needed to change jerseys to be in the picture.  Green was wearing Jason Campbell’s #17 jersey which made Mike a little upset, being Jason hadn’t thrown him the ball.   I was disappointed the Caps players wouldn’t defend me against Sellers, who once again tried to fight me.  However, as Green said, Sellers is a rather large man. The most excited Skins player was Shaun Suisham, who is a huge hockey fan. I told him, stick to your day job,  kicking is much less grueling on the body.

The Skins won and are 5-2 headed to Detroit this Sunday.   I’m just hoping Sellers doesn’t try to fight me on the plane again.  I’d hate to hurt him before a big game!!!
