"Jen’s been considering adoption for a few years, but it was only when the first lockdown began last March that she really started pushing through with the process," the insider revealed.
Jennifer Aniston is all set to take on a new role in her life -- motherhood. Sources close to the star revealed that the actress devoted a lot of time towards the adoption process all throughout 2020, according to Closer Online. Apparently, the 51-year-old actress could be welcoming her child by spring 2021. "Jen’s been considering adoption for a few years, but it was only when the first lockdown began last March that she really started pushing through with the process, which is now just months away from being finalized. She’s been told by her lawyers that she could be a mum by the spring, so long as everything goes to plan," shared the insider.
"The pandemic hasn’t helped, as all the red tape has taken double the amount of time to work through. Having had friends go through it, Jen knows there are still a few hurdles to get over, but she’s remaining optimistic and has vowed to finally turn her dream into a reality," they continued. Although this news may come as a surprise for some, Aniston did hint at the prospect of motherhood in February last year, reports Cheat Sheet.
Describing a dreamy future that she has seen for herself, she said, "My gut reaction was to say all of the above. It’s not so much what I see myself doing, but it’s more like a little screenshot in my brain. I hear the ocean, I see the ocean, I hear laughter, I see kids running, I hear the ice in a glass, I smell food being cooked. That’s the joyous snapshot in my head." Although she has been single since 2018, Aniston found herself taking advice from Sandra Bullock on the matter.
Bullock, an Oscar-winning actress, adopted her daughter Laila in 2015 and her son Louis in 2019. When Aniston met Bullock at her birthday celebration, she sought her guidance. "After catching up on their news, the conversation naturally progressed on to Sandra’s two children, which prompted Jen to ask more questions around the adoption and the various stages after bringing the baby home," revealed the source, per Closer Online.
Apart from giving her counsel, Bullock who is an experienced single mother also told Aniston about the challenges that awaited her on this parenting journey. "With two young children, Sandra has been through the process much more recently and is embracing motherhood in later life. It’s helped give Jen a fresh perspective, especially as a single parent," said the source. "Sandra told her it would be hard work and challenging and said there’d be some huge changes, but insisted she had zero regrets and, if anything, was happy she chose to do it later in life as the timing was so right. Seeing how happy she is being a mum made Jen really excited for the future."
Meanwhile, Aniston's Friends' costar Courteney Cox is also considering adoption after taking inspiration from her close friend. Previously, Cox conceived her daughter through IVF with her former husband, actor David Arquette. Now, she wants to start a family with her fiancé, musician Johnny McDaid. "Holding Jen’s hand through the adoption process has sparked something inside of Courteney. She’s been inspired to start looking into it herself, saying it would be perfect timing as she and Jen could do it together," the insider continued.
"She’s considering all her options, but Jen has shown her age isn’t a reason to dismiss the idea of becoming a mother again. She knows how much Courteney would love to start a family with Johnny, and she’s encouraged her to go for it, joking at how they could bring up their new babies together and form the next generation of BFFs!" they added.
